Why You Should Stop Worrying About the Future Today

Chapter 1: The Nature of Worry
Many individuals dedicate a significant amount of time to worrying. We are often labeled as "worriers," preoccupied with concerns about finances, health, relationships, and careers. We fret over both major and trivial matters, often focusing on elements beyond our control.
What if the act of worrying is merely a drain on our time and energy? There will always be assistance available.
Let me share a personal story that illustrates this point.
It was a typical Friday, and while working from home, I suddenly heard a strange noise. Upon investigation, I discovered two streams of water cascading from my ceiling into the hallway, resembling a shower (this is not an exaggeration). Panic set in—I had no idea what to do in such a situation. I called my dad, but considering he lived 300 miles away, that wasn’t particularly helpful.
In a rush, I fled my apartment. After climbing one flight of stairs and witnessing a significant amount of water on the steps, I attempted to alert my neighbor about the potential issue in his unit, but he wasn't home. I then sought help from security, who directed me to contact administration. Unfortunately, I had left my phone behind, so I sprinted back to my flat, dreading what I might find.
As I entered the elevator, I encountered two men dressed in work attire, waiting for the doors to close.
"I need your help!" I exclaimed, noting their surprised expressions. "I have a flood in my apartment!"
They followed me back, performed some impressive work that only they understood, and managed to save all my belongings. Remarkably, they didn’t accept any payment!
It turned out they were there to fix a minor scratch on the wall on the same floor I lived. Their task would have taken them about 15 minutes, and they would have left.
Was this mere luck, or was it fate that brought assistance precisely when I needed it most?
Section 1.1: The Reward of Patience
Many of us have questioned the fairness of life at one point or another. We witness instances of unjust promotions, discrimination, and bias. Despite these experiences, I maintain my belief in fairness. Unfortunately, it often arrives late but usually brings with it an extra reward for our patience.
If you find yourself feeling stagnant, this article might provide some guidance:
Subsection 1.1.1: Focus on the Controllable
Concentrate on areas of your life that you can influence. If your health is a concern, commit to regular check-ups, engage in physical activity, and maintain a nutritious diet. If financial worries plague you, prioritize saving for retirement and invest time in acquiring new skills. For relationship issues, make an effort to spend quality time with loved ones.
However, understand that sickness, financial loss, or the loss of loved ones can still occur despite our best efforts. Sometimes, acceptance is necessary.
