Exploring This Week's Insights: Sharon's Favorites for September

Week 3 Highlights

Welcome to the third week of Sharon's Favorites! Previously, I mentioned that my selection process was based on the order of my readings. However, this week I've decided to categorize the articles by theme and subject matter. While it's a bit arbitrary, it certainly enhances the flow. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this approach!

1. Financial Realities on Medium

If you find yourself struggling to monetize your Medium writings, rest assured you're not alone—many writers share this challenge.

Laughing All the Way to the Bank? More Like Chuckling at the Empty Wallet.

Brandt Amelia — published in Practice in Public on 9/19/2023

Some authors are a true joy to read, and Brandt is one of them! Her articulate and humorous writing style is a breath of fresh air. This article didn't necessarily reveal new insights about the Partner Program but left me feeling uplifted and reaffirmed my purpose for writing, which transcends financial gain.

The quest for Medium earnings can feel like searching for a mythical creature, yet within that journey lies the true treasure: the joy of expressing your thoughts and connecting with others. While financial rewards may be scarce, the wealth of words is abundant, and that’s a beautiful thing.

2. Mastering the Art of Saying No

Say ‘No’ Like a Boss: The Superpower That Brings 8 Mind-blowing Benefits

Deepshikha Arora — published in New Writers Welcome on 8/29/2023

Reflecting on my own experiences with burnout in the early 90s, I recognized a lack of boundaries and the inability to say no as significant contributors. Dee’s article articulates the eight transformative benefits of mastering the word "no," which I can personally vouch for. If you often find yourself acquiescing to avoid conflict or to please others, consider the cost to your well-being.

3. Divine Connections and Spiritual Healing

God Led Me to Spiritual Healing and Finding New Friends and Jesus

Janis Cox — published in Koinonia on 9/20/2023

I have a fondness for personal narratives, and Janis’s heartfelt account of being guided to a nurturing spiritual community resonates deeply. Divine connections are essential, and I experienced something similar in my twenties that changed my life. I discovered genuine friendships, a connection with God, and met Jesus along the way.

4. Rebuilding Self-Esteem Post-Divorce

My Self-Esteem Skyrocketed After Divorce

Jenny Alexander — published in Overcomers Digest on 8/19/2023

In her personal essay, Jenny shares her battle with self-esteem, worsened by a toxic relationship. She asserts that divorce can signify not an ending, but the dawn of new beginnings. Along with her article, she provides valuable resources for those healing from divorce.

Divorce is not a termination; it is an opportunity to heal, grow, and rediscover your self-worth.

5. Honest Reflections from a Unique Perspective

Holy Cranky Lady Prophets: Confessions of a Vulnerable White-Trash ADHD Pastor

I'm Just Serenity — published 9/16/2023

Serenity remains my favorite Medium writer, and her latest essay is no exception. She candidly confronts the challenges of being a woman in ministry while addressing complacency within the Church.

After presenting various statistics, she highlights the struggles faced by many who feel unnoticed and misunderstood. As she poignantly states, while society may overlook the few, Jesus reaches out to the one.

Here’s a snippet of my response to her article:

"Powerful! Much-needed perspective! TRUTH! Are we so preoccupied with attending church that we forget to embody the Church?"

This message is essential, and I hope you take the time to read her work.

As for me, I've had a fulfilling week! I revisited my first blog post from my old WordPress site and experienced a miraculous healing in my knee. More on that soon!
