In the evolving world of generative NFTs, particularly within sets of 10,000 items, the concept of 1/1s—often referred to as "super rares" or "legendaries"—has garnered significant attention. Section 1.1: The Evolving Nature of Super Rares
Recently, I’ve considered an additional category of super rare NFTs: those that diverge from the expected profile picture format (PFP). Imagine a collection of 10,000 cat NFTs where the super rare items are not even cats, but rather unique 1/1 artworks created by the artist.
Collectors are always excited to acquire these exclusive items, irrespective of their form. However, through my experiences with over twenty different sets, I’ve realized that the 1/1s can often be quite diverse. For instance, during the Chef Boi R Doge drop, the creator introduced a novel concept: five of the 1/1s are Golden Tickets instead of traditional dog NFTs.

As a way to enhance the value of these Golden Tickets, I suggested to Richie, the owner of the drop, that if someone successfully mints one, we should also airdrop a standard dog NFT from the collection to provide a usable PFP. He appreciated the suggestion, and we’ve updated the minting page to reflect this addition.
Section 1.2: Implementing Airdrops for Usable PFPs
This approach, while a small detail in the grand scheme of launching a generative NFT set, represents a thoughtful policy. If a collector receives a 1/1 that lacks utility as a PFP, it makes sense to provide them with a regular PFP from the community wallet—potentially post-minting.
This might seem like a minor consideration, but I believe it could significantly enhance the collector experience. I’m sharing this idea with other teams to see if it resonates with them as well.
