Navigating Absence and Returning to Creativity

Chapter 1: A Personal Reflection
I’ve been away for a while, grappling with both writing and personal challenges.
My last update was some time ago, influenced by a mix of scheduling conflicts and waning interest. Although I have a passion for writing and creativity, the current state of the world makes it difficult to generate excitement for my work. It's akin to the struggle of getting out of bed during a depressive episode or the reluctance to clock in when feeling burnt out.
Today, I want to share my thoughts and plans regarding my writing on Medium, along with a brief update on my journey.
Since earning my bachelor’s degree in December 2021, life has not unfolded as I had hoped, but I’ve come to terms with that. I spent the last couple of years preoccupied with anxiety about the future and breaking into a career as an SEO Analyst, yet I have received little in return. I could express frustration about a relative who landed in that field without any training, thanks to connections, which only deepens my sense of inadequacy, but I choose to focus on my happiness instead.
Currently, I am uncertain about how often I will contribute to Medium. I jot down ideas and outline articles, but I feel overwhelmed with homework and other commitments. My goal is to publish an article weekly, but I also freelance as a writer.
In addition to Medium, I contribute to The Cinema Spot as an entertainment news writer. I've had a few pieces featured on Dead Talk News and GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT (GFR), but I have since parted ways with those platforms. At one point, I considered writing a review of the new Fallout series on Amazon Prime, given my previous role as the franchise expert for GFR.
I plan to release my Season 1 review of Fallout either here or on Letterboxd. If there’s interest from readers, I’ll share it here; otherwise, I can post my Letterboxd username later. Ultimately, I am recognized for my contributions to film and television discussions. Increased feedback from my audience will motivate me to produce more content for Medium.
Apart from writing, I am pursuing an MBA, which occupies a significant portion of my time. Currently, I’m about 75% through my program—a milestone I once thought was out of reach. Additionally, I am working on three certifications through Coursera Pro in Google Project Management, Microsoft Office, and Azure.
Project management interests me due to my background in task organization. I also appreciate Microsoft Office because of its widespread use in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. As for Azure, with the rapid evolution of technology, especially in AI and machine learning, I see value in expanding my knowledge in this area.
This is a concise overview of my life lately, providing context for my sporadic writing. One concern I have is the fluctuating popularity of this platform and potential policy changes. However, I’ve decided to let go of expectations for supplementary income from Medium. Once you release that burden, it feels liberating. I plan to make most of my articles available for free, as limiting access through the Medium Partner Program doesn't seem worth the meager earnings.
Thank you for taking the time to read my brief rant.
