Rediscovering My Passion for Writing: A Journey Back to Medium

Chapter 1: A New Beginning
Let’s dive back into the world of writing! After taking a hiatus since 2019, I’m thrilled to return to Medium. As I step back into this space, I reflect on my motivations and aspirations.
As we embrace 2022, I hope everyone's year has kicked off positively. Personally, I’m filled with excitement to create articles once more. My enthusiasm was sparked when I discovered a surprising $150.00 in my Stripe account, a testament to how my past writings continue to yield returns.
After discontinuing my website and halting my clothing sales—decisions driven by financial uncertainties—I found myself pondering, “What’s next?”
In light of my experiences, I promised to invest my time and resources only into endeavors that could guarantee a return. The clothing sales struggled during the pandemic, as shopping habits changed drastically. Consequently, I redirected my efforts toward academia, pursuing new certifications and community counseling to recover some of my losses. Through my role as a counselor, I’ve come to understand that creativity opens up a plethora of possibilities.
Yesterday, I was taken aback by an email from Stripe. It made me realize, “Wow, I haven’t even put in much effort, yet I’m still earning.” This realization reignited my connection to Medium.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on my previous missteps from 2019 when I first ventured into writing.

I became consumed by numerous blogs focused on financial success, which caused me to miss out on opportunities to network, collaborate, and inspire others. Previously, I was only driven to write for external rewards, such as payment for my work. My motivation stemmed from financial gain rather than personal exploration and discovery. Since becoming a counselor and engaging more with my community, I've rekindled my passion for writing—not just because I jot down notes, but because I genuinely love the craft. I now find motivation in expressing myself authentically, rather than focusing solely on potential earnings.
