Reviving Passion: A Deep Dive into Focus and Engagement

Chapter 1: A Confession
I have a confession to make: I've strayed from my true passion! The realization hit me hard—it's both shocking and somewhat embarrassing to admit, especially in public. Confronting this situation has been tough, but I understand that I must tackle it directly. What do I mean by this?
My connection with my passion has grown stale and distant. I found myself peering over the fence, convinced that others had it better. There was chatter about the latest technologies, philosophies, or morning routines. I felt pressured to dabble in everything, fearing I might miss out on something important. I wanted to remain relevant and avoid being out of touch.
Then I saw someone earn $100 from a one-minute story, and I thought, “I need to generate income too!” But now, I realize how misguided that was. I returned to my passion to see if it would still welcome me.
I received a stern message! Let me share the conversation:
Passion: "You must concentrate, eliminate distractions, and embrace your inner mad scientist if necessary. There’s so much to explore! Stop wandering off to those distractions!"

“I am here for you, so stop trying to be everything to everyone. You are multifaceted, and I understand that! However, if you want to excel, you need to commit fully—even if it means sacrificing other interests.
This is challenging. I know your curiosity drives you, and many topics deserve your attention. However, chasing after every interest will detract from our relationship. While breaks are fine, remember who you truly value!”
But your distractions will pull you away from depth!
With that insight, I realized it was time to refocus on my passion. I've spent too much time trying to master communication instead of deepening my knowledge in my areas of interest.
Passion urged me towards my YouTube channel!
Passion continues: “Look at your feed! YouTube creation? Tips on writing engaging headlines? Guidance on creating effective videos?
Where am I? WHERE. AM. I?
This space should reflect YOU—your passion! Personal development, productivity, mental health, neuroscience—these should dominate your content!
Instead, I see a lack of focus.
Me thinking: “Passion seems almost furious now!”
“Don’t label me furious!”
Me: (Oops, I forgot they can read my mind!)
Your consumption amounts to: seen it/read it, seen it/read it, seen it/read it.
And then you complain, “There’s nothing interesting to watch!”
A true mad scientist wouldn’t behave this way! They would prioritize their main interest significantly—perhaps 80/20 or even 90/10!
Instead, you’re fixated on wealth-building strategies while your true potential waits patiently for your attention!”
Get your priorities straight!
Case Study: My Wife and Her Lab
“It’s not as if you lack examples. Just look at your wife! She immerses herself in her sewing room every morning and often forgets to eat until dinner time! That’s the essence of a mad scientist! She could be oblivious to the world around her!”
Changes

So, after all this reflection, I’m implementing a change! I will apply the principles of Marie Kondo to what I consume. My passion takes precedence!
Years in the corporate world have taught me many lessons, but the journey of discovery is ongoing.
Now What?
Passion must come first, every single day!
When I find myself aimlessly scrolling through unrelated topics (like social media), I will either: 1. Stop scrolling and redirect my energy towards my passion. 2. Allow myself five more minutes of mindless scrolling before shutting it down.
I will actively seek valuable content related to my passion to enrich my feeds.
“All work and no play may make Jack a dull boy, but all play and no work makes him a fool!”
And that leads to some tough love from my beloved Passion!
Now, it’s back to the lab!

Thank you for taking the time to read!
My motivation for writing is twofold:
- Personal Development - Writing helps clarify my thoughts and encourages deeper analysis.
- Helping Others - I aim to guide people in making better choices by fostering critical thinking and recognizing their potential. Often, we are blinded by inherited beliefs and assumptions imposed by others.
