Chapter 1: Mastering Product Interviews
Excelling in product interviews requires a calm demeanor. I’m refining my abilities to communicate slowly, confidently, and with a warm smile. Engaging discussions about transforming the future of a multi-billion dollar enterprise should never be dull.
Insight into Notifications
Consider this: Slack has developed a detailed decision-making framework to help manage notifications for its users. However, many users in enterprise settings express frustration, feeling that Slack hampers their ability to focus on meaningful tasks.
Despite Slack's awareness of this issue and their efforts to create a thoughtful notification flow, many users still find it confusing. A significant number of employees who are unaware of this framework hesitate to mute or turn off notifications, fearing they might miss critical updates.
To address this, two suggestions come to mind. First, Slack should simplify the explanation of the notification process, making it as straightforward as explaining it to a child. Secondly, allowing users to establish designated deep work periods could be highly beneficial. Imagine a feature that silences all Slack notifications from 7 AM to 10 AM, with a message stating, "For urgent matters, please call me at (646) xxx-xxxx."
Implementing this feature could greatly assist creative professionals who need uninterrupted time to produce high-quality work.
