Chapter 1: Discovering the Nikon D700

There’s a well-known saying: “The best camera is the one you have on hand.” In this exploration of the Nikon D700, we’ll delve into the remarkable images captured with this camera during my journey.

From early 2012 until December 2014, the Nikon D700 played a pivotal role in my photography adventures. Although I entered the DSLR world a bit late, I quickly made up for lost time.

After a few months without a DSLR, I felt a void in my creative life. Eager to dive back into photography, I realized I needed to invest in a solid camera, which led to taking out a significant loan for the D700. This was my first experience with a full-frame camera, purchased second-hand on Craigslist. I also upgraded my lens collection, stepping away from the cheaper options.

With the D700, I shifted my focus from casual gigs to paid opportunities, covering weddings, headshots, birthday celebrations, billboards, maternity shoots, senior portraits, high school sports, and even embarking on the ‘Minnesota State Parks and Recreation Area Adventure Photography Project.’ My motivation was stronger than ever, and I recognized that this gear was a catalyst for elevating my photography skills.
